BOLTON AREA 

A:  Bolton, Entwhistle Reservoir - “Just off the A666 north of Bolton, there are two car-parks near the reservoir, again ideal, far enough from the road so you can’t be surprised by cars coming in, Police etc.  You can see the headlights etc.  Again, picnic tables for those al fresco moments.  We went there tonight and had a real good time - met the most polite voyeur in the universe:) He is a regular and says that this site does not get as much use as it could due to its distance from habitation.”  “If you head out of Bolton towards Blackburn on the A666 through the village of Dimple you will encounter a minor road on your right signpost Turton (B6391) - the road is called Greens Arms Road.  It first winds a little and then by looking to your left you will catch sight of the reservoir.  The first turning on the left will take you over a cattle grid and down a tarmac lane to the first (top) car park (in our opinion the better one).  If you do not turn down this one but proceed to the next left on the B6391 and turn down there you will eventually come to a bridge across the head of the reservoir. Just before the bridge is another car park (on the right), this one is also good but not as good as the top one.”  “Take the Burton turning off the A666 onto Green Arm Road, follow road until sign for Batridge Barn Car Park on left, and take that road down to the water (across cattle grids).  There is a small lay-by on the access road, don’t use that, but keep heading down to the picnic-tables (ideal height for fucking, been there, got the T-shirt!)” (TLK)   Terry Senior wrote (September 2001): “Just come back from Blackpool area, tried out the Entwistle car-park near Bolton on Tuesday night.  Had fun with a couple at the Batridge Barn car park, if they read this then I would like to thank them for a very entertaining night (they were in small Fiesta).  Just a pity that of the two nights I went there, the Doggers spent most of the time running from one car-park to the other, headlights all over the place, they scared one couple off…”  “Well it all happens around Entwistle reservoir, on Wednesday and Sunday nights around 9:00pm-10: 00pm but don’t be put off by the single Doggers, they’re a good bunch and never get pushy…” Opinions differ: “Been there Thursday night, no joy at all, either gay men on the A666 or an old couple (and only one) at Entwistle, where do all the younger couples go to be Dogged?”  Chay replied: “Entwistle Reservoir is a really good place I think, had some great times there!  I think more people should know about it, but one of the biggest problems I think is not knowing if parked cars are swingers or not.  There should be a code so that Doggers and swingers don’t end up sitting around for ages and then driving off ‘cos not everybody wants to take the chance.  I think you should flash your lights three times or something…”  “I worked down that way for a year, in many visits I only ’scored’ once, in the bottom car-park…” wrote Trikesman.  “Been to Entwhistle today, nothing going on, when is the best times to go morning or night also lots of Police signs, is it iffy, where does the good stuff happen, car-park or woods, send info so we can put on an anonymous show…”  Er, yes, maybe.  Bob wrote: “Fridays at Entwistle top car-park around 10:30pm to 11:45pm - always a few Doggers, not idiots running round with headlamps blazing away…”   “Watch out for the older, rather prim looking, couple in the white Daihatsu (or similar) micro-van, they flash other couples in the big lay-by and are alleged to play if they fancy you…” 

B:  Bolton - “On A666 to Blackburn, one mile north of Egerton, long lay-by on right of main road (half a mile long) with multiple parking bays, some gays cruising.  Truckers and couples, also action in pull-ins on roads surrounding Delph Reservoir (look for yacht club signs in village).” (TLK) 

C:  Bolton - “There always seems to be plenty of couples in cars on the main car-park on the way to Rivington… …this is the one which leads up to the castle.  There are also lots of secluded wooded areas…” 

D:  Singleton - “Lay-by on Lodge Lane (B5260) on left going south from junction with A586.  Sharp left bend and lay-by on left also.  Some late night activity.” 

E:  Shiffnal Street - In November 2001, alvink13@yahoo.co.uk wrote: “Try Shiffnal Street car-park, on Saturdays…” But he may have been mistaken: “Shiffnal Street is the red light area… …you only pay for it there m8!”  wrote a wiser and wealthier Dogger.
